Croatia enjoys Hejul
We participate in the Taste the Mediterranean festival, 5th October 2022
On October 5, we offered a tasting of our Hejul Olive Oil at the Taste The Mediterranean Festival. The festival was held in Split between the 4th and 7th of October. The activity was framed within the Spanish Days, organized by ICEX and the Spanish embassy in Croatia. The tasting of the EVOO Gourmet Hejul Picual selection was presented by the expert Mirella Zanetic, jury of multiple international EVOO contests. The attendees were very interested in the expert’s explanations and the opinions regarding Spanish oils were very positive.
The next day, on the 6th, the tasting was held again at the ASPIRA gastronomic university school. The tasting showed great interest on the part of the students, as they were very participatory and very interested in Olive Oil from La Rioja.
Back home, we reflect on the good acceptance that the Spanish EVOO has in Croatia, despite being a country with high rates of production of Extra Virgin Olive Oil. It is estimated that Croatia has more than one olive tree per inhabitant, maybe even two. In recent years they have harvested an average of between 35 and 40 thousand tons of olives. Likewise, the last fifty years have quadrupled production. They continue in this way with the renovation of many old olive groves and at the same time plant new ones.
